Thanks to all the participants and the speakers of IFCS 2015!

The conference has been a great success and, as announced, authors of contributions, which have been presented at the conference, can submit the extended version of their papers for the publication in the post-proceedings volume.

We are glad to announce that Springer Verlag will be the publisher of the IFCS2015 post-proceedings. Edited by Angela Montanari, Francesco Palumbo and Maurizio Vichi, the volume will appear in the prestigious series “Studies in Classification, Data Analysis and Knowledge Organization” (ISSN: 1431-8814).

Original contributions between 10 and 12 pages, including all illustrations and appendices and prepared according to Springer typographical style, are welcomed. Please, download the LaTeX template and the Springer document style from the sidebar or click here.

Your paper must be uploaded through the Extended paper submission procedure clickable on the sidebar of the conference website within the 18th December 2015. When submitting please select 'Extended paper' track. Submissions will be published passing through a rigorous but fast peer-review evaluation process.

The 2015 conference of the International Federation of Classification Societies (IFCS) will be held at the University of Bologna, Italy, from July 6th to July 8th, 2015.

The conference will include a president’s invited session and a presidential address, key note presentations, invited presentations, invited and contributed symposia, and oral and poster presentations.

The conference will host a special lecture by Trevor Hastie and Robert Tibshirani celebrating the 25th anniversary of the publication of their book on Generalized Additive Models.

They are scientific prizes for young researchers with promising track records in the areas of classification and data analysis, as a support of their professional career. For further information see the Awards page and the flyer.

The conference will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the IFCS, which was founded the 4th July 1985.

Some opportunities for publishing your work include:

  • IFCS supports the Journal of Classification (JoC) and the Journal Advances in Data Analysis and Classification(ADAC). Participants are encouraged to submit their full papers for the publication in these journals after the regular peer-review process.
  • The International Journal Statistica plans to publish an issue entirely devoted to the core topics of the conference.
  • Post-proceedings will be published into a prestigious and indexed series in collaboration with an international publisher.
